Beginning of the month was the opening of Sweeney Todd, where I was the assistant to the costume designer, which involved making and altering several costume pieces. During the run for this show I made 3 costume pieces, each for a different show (Sebastian/The Little Mermaid, Witch/Into The Woods, Ensemble Dress/Thoroughly Modern Millie). Then at the end of the month I opened and closed The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, where I was the designer and pretty much the only seamstress on staff. I don't know about you, but seeing it all out like this just looks tiring, and that isn't to mention all the other insanity that this month brought into my personal life.
Well that was one crazy ride, but now I am down to one show at a time for a while. And blessedly, that next show is Beauty and the Beast. I have been dreaming and daydreaming about this show since Sterling Playmakers announced that it would be on the calendar. And now that the time is nearly upon me, and am so ready to crank out these costumes. I made up the measurement sheets, bought some of the patterns, and even got some of the fabric and other materials. I wish we knew our cast now so I could start putting these costumes together! Patience, Judith...patience.
On another great note, with the end of shows comes the photos! I got some fantastic photos from Sweeney Todd, and once my computer lets me download them, I will be happy to upload them to the Sweeney Todd page. I am still editing the photos from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, as I am the one who took them. It will take a while to edit and select which photos are worth posting since I took over 5000 photos. But as soon as I get that handled I will post them for all to view.
I am very excited for what is to come, and hope that maybe I will find some time to finish this one cosplay that is so close to being finished I can taste it. Thanks for reading!
