Goddess Jasmine/Tyche

This was soooo much fun! This costume was inspired by a friend of mine who did a mash up costume of Merida and Artemis. Her costume looks beautiful, and the concept was so fun, so I asked if she would be alright with me adapting her idea, but with different characters. She said alright and the designing began!
Jasmine has always been a favorite princess of mine, and so I started looking into Greek/Roman Goddesses that I could mash her character with. After much searching I found Tyche, a goddess of wealth and fortune. Jasmine has always been a character that seemed constantly surrounded by wealth, to the point that she doesn't know what life would be like without it. Among other traits, this goddess and Jasmine share a strong and independent spirit. The color choice of the outer material was defiantly reminiscent of the original Jasmine, but the lining is of gold silk, which to me just screamed Tyche. I created an original embroidery design to decorate the neckline, sleeves, and hemline. This costume was a fun designing challenge for myself to create something new. Photos Taken By: Nick Ferris |
